1) Introduction and Scope
1.1 These terms of use apply to the use of the Symptolog website as well as the Symptolog app (Android, iOS and Windows).

2) General Usage Notes (Website & App)
2.1 The use of Symptolog is permitted solely for private or professional information or documentation purposes.
2.2 It is not permitted to use the services in an abusive, unlawful or disruptive manner.
3) Content and Copyright
3.1 All provided content, including questionnaires, texts, structures, designs and graphics, is protected by copyright.
3.2 The content may be used for private and professional/therapeutic purposes (e.g. by psychologists, doctors, therapists, coaches).
3.3 Publication, reproduction, systematic distribution or independent commercial use without explicit permission is not allowed.
4) Use of the App (Additional Provisions)
4.1 Local data storage:
All personal health data is stored exclusively locally on the device. No data transfer to external servers or cloud services occurs without the user's active action or consent.
4.2 Data transfer through user consent:
Personal data is only transferred if the user explicitly approves a specific function. This includes sharing data, creating reports or storing data in a cloud service of the user’s choice.
4.3 Cloud backup (provider-independent):
The app can store backups in various cloud services (e.g. Google Drive or future supported providers). A cloud backup is performed only with the explicit consent of the user and requires logging into or connecting to the selected cloud service.
4.4 Automatic backups:
If the user activates the “automatic backup” feature, the app performs backups at defined intervals or in specific situations using the chosen cloud provider. This is based entirely on prior explicit user consent. The feature can be disabled at any time.
4.5 Location and weather data:
For retrieving weather data, the app may require location information. The user can decide whether to:
- enter a postal code manually, or
- grant GPS location access.
4.6 Permissions:
The app requests only the permissions required for a specific function (e.g. location access, internet access, file access, or cloud service access). If permission is denied, the corresponding feature cannot be used.
4.7 Device-dependent risks:
Functionality may vary depending on the device, operating system or third-party software. We assume no responsibility for data loss, device errors or incompatibilities caused by the device, cloud provider or external factors.
5) Use of the Website (Additional Provisions)
5.1 The website is for informational purposes only and does not process personal health data.
5.2 Features such as backup, location access or symptom tracking are only available within the app.
6) Availability
6.1 We strive for high availability of the website and app but cannot guarantee error-free or uninterrupted operation.
6.2 Maintenance, technical issues or external factors may temporarily restrict usage.
7) Disclaimer
7.1 The provided content is solely for self-observation and does not constitute medical diagnosis or therapy.
7.2 Use is at your own risk. We accept no liability for damage, data loss or misrepresentation except where required by law.
